The DCR Hatch Shell is located at 47 David G. Mugar Way, Boston, MA 02108 on the east end of Storrow Drive, not far from Mass General Hospital.

By Foot:

On July 4th the Esplanade can be accessed from Beacon Street via Berkeley, Clarendon, Dartmouth, and Fairfield Streets and Massachusetts Avenue. On July 3rd you will need to use one of the footbridges to cross Storrow Drive. Note: The Fiedler Footbridge will be closed.

Public Transportation:

The commuter rail and subway systems are favorable alternatives to driving and parking for Boston events. The two closest T-stations on the Boston side are Charles-MGH on the Red Line, and Arlington Street on the Green Line. On the Cambridge side, the Kendall and Central Square stations on the Red Line are nearby. For more MBTA information please call (617) 222-3200 or visit

Parking Information:

We recommend that you take public transportation (MBTA) to the event. If you do bring a vehicle to the event, there are several public parking garages within walking distance to the DCR Esplanade. The historic Motor Mart Garage, located at 201 Stuart Street, is an easy walk to the Esplanade and you'll avoid traffic on Charles Street after the fireworks by parking there! Visit: Motor Mart for more information.

Handicapped Parking:

Parking on the Boston side for persons with disabilities is available on July 4th in the Mass Eye and Ear parking lot as space is available. The MA State Police will shut down access to the lot once this occurs. You must have a RMV issued handicap placard to enter the lot. The MBTA RIDE will be providing an accessible shuttle from the parking lot to the Disability Gate of the Esplanade starting at 12:30PM, however vehicles will be prioritized for MBTA RIDE customer use due to ADA restrictions.

Handicapped parking is available on Cambridge Parkway on the night of July 4th after 5:00PM Vehicles with handicap parking placards should proceed through the security checkpoint at Land Boulevard and Binney Street and follow the directions of the uniformed police officers to Cambridge Parkway. This parking area will close once all the spaces are full. All cars parked on Cambridge Parkway must be off the road by 1:00AM on July 5th. Any vehicles left after 1:00AM will be towed at the owner's expense. (subject to change)
