This 12-minute fireworks display takes place in the intimate setting of the Boston Common Ballfield (at the corner of Boylston and Charles) where revelers -- of all ages – will have a front-row view of this pyrotechnic extravaganza. Boston 4 Productions Executive Producer David G. Mugar said: “The Mugar Foundation is proud to present this annual fireworks show. This New Year’s Eve display now in its 15th year has become a special celebration and tradition that we take pride in bringing to the people of Boston.” Boston Family Fireworks rings in the New Year at midnight (7:00 PM EST) Greenwich Mean Time, known as the world’s standard. This idea was one Mugar came up with in order to create a fireworks celebration that children could attend. Although the display was set to be a one-time only event, due to its popularity Boston Family Fireworks has now become a New Year’s Eve tradition. Boston Family Fireworks presented by Mayor Thomas M. Menino and the Mugar Foundation, and produced by Boston 4 Productions. For more information on other First Night Boston activities visit: http://www.firstnightboston.org.
