- The Esplanade is the area adjacent to the Charles River in Boston. This area includes the Hatch Shell stage.
- The Oval is the lawn area directly in front of the stage at the Hatch Shell. In order to see the concert you need to locate within this area, but be advised - you will not have a good view of the fireworks given the large number of trees surrounding it.
- Spectators entering the Oval will be required to pass through one of the three bag check/screening entrances. At the entrance a wristband will be attached. This will be required to be worn for entry and exit throughout the day.
- The walkway adjacent to the Charles River from the Hatch Shell to Community Boating is closed to the public on July 4th.
- During the screening process the following items will not be allowed in the Oval area and may be confiscated:
- alcoholic beverages
- glass containers
- tarps that are larger than 5' by 7'
- sharp objects (for example, knitting needles, metal tent spikes, can openers, metal utensils)
- Once the Oval reaches capacity, usually around 7PM on July 3rd and mid-morning on the July 4th, no additional wristbands will be distributed.
- No pets will be allowed in the Oval unless they are service animals.
- The entire Esplanade area and the Cambridge side of the river are alcohol free areas.
